Demonetisation war: Fissures in opposition over going ahead with Bharat Bandh
New Delhi [India], Nov.27 (ANI): The opposition-sponsored 'Bharat Bandh' scheduled to be held tomorrow to protest against the Centre's demonetisation of Rs.500 and Rs.1000 currency notes, has been hit by a decision of the Janata Dal (United) not to participate. This decision was taken in a meeting chaired by the party president Nitish Kumar, who has praised the Prime Minister for taking this bold step. He said that he doesn't oppose the demonetisation drive, but wants the government to check the inconvenience caused to the public Apart from that, the Congress government in Karnataka has also decided not to participate in the strike. In Haryana, Indian National Lok Dal president Ashok Arora has also announced that the party, instead of supporting the 'Bandh', will highlight the problems being faced by the people due to demonetisation and hold demonstrations before submitting memorandums to the administration. The Bhiwani Industries Association has backed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision, as has the Telangana Rashtra Samithi in Telangana. (ANI)
