Demonetisation transferred common man's money into pockets of wealthy: Rahul Gandhi
Muradnagar (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Feb 8 (ANI): In an endeavour to enthral voters ahead of crucial Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of befooling people of the nation through fake promises and schemes. While addressing a rally here, Gandhi trained guns at Prime Minister Modi and said that the latter made fake promises like brining black money and crediting 15 lakh in account of every Indian. "Did Prime Minister Narendra Modi get the black money back? Has anyone got the 15 lakh Rupees as was promised by the Prime Minister?," said Gandhi. Further in a sardonic attack, Gandhi said that the Prime Minister keeps on travelling abroad and has handed over the job of cleaning the nation to the citizens "He is the first Prime Minister who kept on flying abroad and asked its citizens to clean the nation," said Gandhi. Taking the occasion to castigate demonetisation, Gandhi said that the currency swap was an attempt by the ruling dispensation to fill the pockets of rich people by snatching money from the common man. "Then on November 8 he (Prime Minister) called out on people, said 'Mitron the money which you earned after a lot of hard work, that is of no use now, it is just a piece of paper'," he said. "He asked all of you to stand in serpent queues. But I would like to ask that in those lines did you find a corrupt person? I just saw the common man standing in that line. Demonetisation was an attempt to take money from the common man and give it to the wealthy," he added. Expressing confidence that SP-Congress combine will form the next government in Uttar Pradesh, Gandhi exuded confidence and said there is a wave in favour of the alliance in the state. "Like Bihar, where Prime Minister Modi thought that the BJP will work wonders but failed, the same will happen in Uttar Pradesh, the SP- Congress alliance will win, and you people prove it again that it is not that easy to befool you," he said.
