Demonetisation revolution will benefit poor, weaker sections of society: Naqvi
New Delhi [India], Nov. 19 (ANI): Minister of State for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Saturday said that instead of a united opposition creating a ruckus in Parliament on demonetisation, they should support this economic revolution which will directly benefit the poor and weaker sections of society. Naqvi told ANI, "We wanted the parliament to function smoothly, as our main objective was to have creative and positive discussions. A economic revolution has begun in our country, and definitely, this revolution is an initiative by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to help the poor and weaker sections of society, who have not seen the light of development so far." "When the country is going through a major transformation and revolution, it is certain that people are bound to face difficulties, and for that, the government is working hard with sincere efforts so that their problems are solved soon," Naqvi added. "I regret that instead of the opposition supporting us in our decision against black money, they are spreading rumours and creating an illusion in the minds of the public. And, through this quarrel and fights, they will get nothing," he further said. The pandemonium in the house between the treasury bench members and the Congress members over the issue of demonetization led to the speaker adjourning the Rajya Sabha till Monday. The Rajya Sabha was adjourned thrice on Friday following a continuous uproar in the house. The Lok Sabha has also been adjourned till Monday. The government is also insisting that the Congress Party apologise for the controversial remarks made by its leader Ghulam Nabi Azad in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday during a demonetisation debate on the government's move to withdraw Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes.
