Demonetisation: Oppn not to hold talks with govt. till Nov. 28

New Delhi [India], Nov. 24 (ANI): The opposition parties on Thursday decided not to hold talks with the government over the demonetisation move till November 28 when they will mark the 'Aakrosh Diwas'. Sources said that the opposition has taken this firm stand as they are extremely unhappy with the manner in which the demonetisation move was implemented and is adamant that the government roll back its decision. A united opposition has decided to observe a nationwide protest on November 28. CPI (M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury earlier said that November 28 would be observed as "Aakrosh Diwas" by all parties across the country. CPI leader D. Raja said the Left parties would observe a week-long protest from November 24-30. "The Modi government has not demonetised money, but demonetised the people. Thirteen days have passed, but people are still standing in queues outside banks and ATMs have no money. All Congress units will protest across the country on November 28," said Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala. Meanwhile, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar today said that a 'responsible' government is willing to accommodate the opposition's suggestions over the demonetisation move and added that there was no question of prestige as this decision was taken in national interest. As the government attempts to find a truce with a united opposition, which has disrupted both the Houses of Parliament since the beginning of the Winter Session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today attend the Rajya Sabha and is likely to participate in the discussion on demonetisation.
