Demonetisation: Congress seeking cover to keep pot boiling in Parliament, says Naidu

New Delhi [India], Nov. 18 (ANI): After the Parliament was disrupted for the third consecutive day over demonetisation, the government on Friday alleged that the opposition was finding excuses to scuttle a debate on the issue as it was boomeranging and going against them. Speaking to the media, Information and Broadcasting Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu said the government is ready for any kind of discussion, adding that reply to the debate would be given by the concerned minister or any other person on behalf of the government. "The government has taken a very big step and we have said we are ready for discussion, don't know why opposition is creating uproar in the house. Congress is trying to divert the issue and is trying to run away from debate because it is boomeranging and going against them. Whenever there a necessary to intervene the Prime Minister did but to disrupt the house for this reason is not right," he said. He accused the Congress Party of trying to seek cover and keep the pot boiling so that they can disrupt the Parliament. "I would like to ask are you against cleaning up the economy of the country. Are you against government action of taking against corruption? Or are you more concerned about the temporary problem being faced by the people. Come clean and make your stand clean this is what we are saying," he added. He further sought clarification from the grand old party as to whether Ghulam Nabi Azad's comment was his personal view or was it the official line of the party. "How can a responsible leader compare the cross-border terrorist killing with the hardship over money exchange? We were really shocked and surprise. I want to know from Congress Party as to what is their view on Ghulam Nabi Azad's statement. The nation wants to know today," he added. Meanwhile, the demonetisation war continued in the Parliament today with the Opposition seeking an explanation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi while questioning his absence. Amid chaotic scenes, the Lok Sabha was adjourned till Monday while the Rajya Sabha has been adjourned till 2: 30 p.m. (ANI)
