Demonetisation: 'Janata' will not forgive BJP, says Mayawati
New Delhi [India], Dec. 7 (ANI): With Parliament being adjourned over the issue of demonetisation, Bahujan Samaj Party chief, Mayawati repeated on Wednesday that the Centre is wrong to go ahead with the scheme. "The decision taken by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and his government of demonetising the currency notes of Rs 500, 1000 is not correct," she said. Mayawati said there seems to be no end to people's woes. "Centre promised that all the problems pertaining to it will be resolved within 50 days but I don't find anything of this sort happening at the completion of one month," she said. Hinting towards the intention of the government for demonetising high-denomination currency for their own political benefits, the Mayawati said that the common man will not spare them. "This decision taken by the government is solely taken for their own political gain, and for which they are making more than 90% people of the country suffer. 'Janata' will not forgive them," the minister said. She reiterated the opposition's demand for the Prime Minister attending the Parliament and having a debate on the issue. "Prime Minister should address the issues raised by the ministers in Parliament," she said. Mayawati demanded an apology from Prime Minister Modi for alleging opposition of corruption and other charges. "The allegation of corruption put by the Bharatiya Janata Party on opposition is not acceptable and the Prime Minister should apologise for it. Since the beginning of winter session of the Parliament, opposition has been demanding a debate on demonetisation along with Prime Minister Modi's participation in it. Due to so, both the houses have been adjourned for many times, including today where Lok Sabha was adjourned till 12 p.m. and Rajya Sabha till 2 p.m. (ANI)
