Delhi: Section of building collapses in Connaught Place

New Delhi [India] Feb 02 (ANI): An empty section of a building in the national capital's Connaught place collapsed at around 2:00am on Wednesday night and no casualties were reported from the site of the incident.

New Delhi [India] Feb 02 (ANI): An empty section of a building in the national capital's Connaught place collapsed at around 2:00am on Wednesday night and no casualties were reported from the site of the incident. Divulging details of the incidents, Divisional Officer of the Delhi fire service said that the roof and a wall of the Jain Book Depot, which is situated in C-Block, have collapsed. He said, "We received a call at 2:10 am saying that the roof of Jain book depot has collapsed, several vehicles were rushed to the spot." He further said that no one was present inside the collapsed building. NDMC fire officers, along with civil engineers reached the spot to take stock of the situation. Some other walls and the floor have also been damaged in the collapse, due to which the officers have asked people not to go near the debris. The Civil engineers have been intimidated about the incident and will investigate further to find out the cause of the collapse. Only yesterday, at least seven people, most of them labourers, were killed and more than 30 injured when an under-construction building in Kanpur's Jajmau area collapsed. (ANI)
