Delhi: PWD sprinkles water on road to reduce dust pollution
New Delhi [India], Nov. 7 (ANI): With an aim to curb the rising level of pollution in the national capital, the Public Works Department (PWD) on Monday began sprinkling water on roads. "We will sprinkle water on the roads which will help the dirt and soil wash away. It will become easy to clean the channel. This will help control pollution to an extent," R.K. Khurana, Assistant Engineer, PWD told ANI. With the visibility on roads showed some improvement on the first day of the week after the dust and smog choked the capital with worst levels in 17 years, weather and pollution experts hoped that the situation will show some improvement on Tuesday. Although the ambient air quality measurement showed no significant change in the levels of PM 2.5 and PM 10. The schools have been shut in the capital and all construction work has also been put on hold in view of the dangerous pollution levels. Following the severe crisis in the national capital which has left residents gasping, the Supreme Court will hear a plea tomorrow on the alarming pollution levels in Delhi. The Delhi Government has announced several emergency measures to tackle the unprecedented level of pollution plaguing the national capital. (ANI)
