New Delhi [India], January 29 ANI): Campaigning for BJP candidates ahead of Delhi polls, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday slammed AAP national convenor kejriwal">Arvind Kejriwal for alleging that the Haryana government is "poisoning" the Yamuna waters.
On Monday, Kejriwal had levelled serious allegations against the Bharatiya Janata Party, stating that the BJP-ruled Haryana government has "poisoned" the Yamuna water being supplied to Delhi so that "people die" in the national capital and the blame comes on the AAP.
Campaigning in favour of Ramesh Vidhuri, the BJP candidate from Kalkaji, Dhami said, "When Yamuna flows from Uttrakhand, the water is clean and pure... But it leaves Delhi all dirty...and the work to make it dirty is done by kejriwal">Arvind Kejriwal's government. For the last 10 years, he kept on saying that he would clean the Yamuna but never fulfilled the promise..."
CM Dhami earlier in the day also participated in a public meeting organised in favour of BJP candidate Neelam Pehelwan from Najafgarh assembly constituency in Delhi's Jai Vihar.
Earlier today, Haryana Minister Anil Vij hit also out at former Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal over alleging that the Haryana government is "poisoning" the Yamuna water, and said that Aam Aadmi Party government could not clean the Yamuna water in 10 years which he had promised and now they are blaming the BJP government in neighbouring state.
Anil Vij said, "Swami Vivekananda had said that the cause of every problem should be found within the problem but kejriwal">Arvind Kejriwal looks for the cause of everything outside himself. If the air in Delhi is polluted, he blames Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Earlier he used to blame Punjab but now his government is formed in the state so he does not blame Punjab. They could not clean the Yamuna water in 10 years which he had promised and now they are blaming us. They just lie."
The Delhi assembly polls are scheduled for February 5, with the counting of votes set for February 8. A total of 699 candidates are contesting for 70 assembly seats in the national capital.
The Congress, which held power in Delhi for 15 consecutive years, has faced major setbacks in the last two assembly elections, failing to win any seats.
In contrast, AAP dominated the 2015 and 2020 assembly elections, securing 67 and 62 seats, respectively, out of 70, while BJP won only three and eight seats in these elections. (ANI)
