New Delhi [India], December 28 (ANI): Ahead of the upcoming 2025 assembly elections in Delhi, Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena has directed an inquiry into serious allegations levelled by Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit.
Dikshit, former MP and Congress candidate from the New Delhi assembly constituency for the upcoming polls had written to the Delhi LG alleging that "intelligence" personnel from the Punjab government had been spotted outside his residence.
In the written representation, Dikshit alleged that vehicles belonging to Punjab government intelligence personnel have frequently been seen parked outside his house. He further alleged that these actions are being carried out at the behest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal "to disrupt the democratic process and hinder a free and fair election."
It must be noted that Dikshit is contesting the upcoming assembly polls against Kejriwal from the New Delhi assembly constituency.
LG Saxena said that the allegations levelled by Dikshit were "grave."
"Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor has noted that the allegations made out are grave and with the impending Elections to Vidhan Sabha, it is imperative that prospective candidates are not intimidated and discouraged from participating in the democratic process," the letter signed by Principle Secretary to Delhi LG read.
LG Saxena has directed officials to conduct a detailed inquiry into the matter and submit a report to the Secretariat within three days.
Earlier, Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit met Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena on Thursday, calling for an investigation into the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) proposed Rs 2,100 monthly allowance scheme for women, alleging potential misuse.
The Congress leader expressed concerns about the scheme's transparency and fairness, accusing Arvind Kejriwal, AAP's National Convenor and former Chief Minister of Delhi, of implementing programmes that could erode public trust.
Dikshit had called the AAP's proposed welfare schemes a 'fraud' and said that every resident of Delhi should know about this. Questioning the AAP government's credibility, the Congress leader said that how one can believe them if they are lying today.
He also raised questions over the "possible misconduct" of the data that was collected during the registration process of the schemes. (ANI)
