Delhi-based Tulu activist Avanindranath Rao honoured with 'Tuluva Aisiri'
New Delhi, Aug. 16 (ANI): Delhi-based Tulu activist Avanindranath Rao was honored with 'Tuluva Aisiri' at the Tulu conference which was held recently at Mulki, Karnataka. The two day conference was organized by the Tulu Sammelana Samiti, Mulki and Times of Kudla weekly, Mangalore. Rao was the founder president of Delhi Tulu Siri. He was involved in promoting Tulu culture in the national capital through Tulunadu Develepment Forum, South Canara club, Delhi Tulu Siri and other associations. Padma Vibhushan D.Veerendra Heggade inaugurated the conference 'Tulu Aisirida Aisra' at the premise of Durga Parameshwari Temple, Bappanadu. He felt the conference created a special awakening among Tulu people and expressed satisfaction over the entire celebrations which had a traditional touch on the occasion. Well-known scholar Sunitha M. Shetty from Mumbai released the fourth edition of news souvenir 'Times of Kudla'. Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Akademi president Janaki Brahmavar, member of the Tulu Akademi Vasantha Shetty Bellare, All India Tulu union president Dharmapal U. Devadiga, temple chief administrator Manohar Shetty, convenors S.R. Bandimar, Shashi Rai, president Y.N. Shetty and Chandrashekara Suvarna were present on the occasion. (ANI)
