Defence, security have always been above politics: R.K. Singh
New Delhi [India] (ANI): Questioning the mental state of those politicising the surgical strikes across the Line of Control (LoC), former home secretary and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP R.K. Singh today said that defence and security of the nation have always been above politics. "I pity the mental state of the people, who are questioning the surgical strikes. The DGMO of our Army has issued a statement and he was not doing any politics or was not interested in elections. You don't question that statement. You are just aiding what the Pakistani Army is conducting. They are shameless people," Singh told ANI. "Defence should not be politicised. Defence and the security of the nation have always been above politics and it should remain the same now as well. Earlier, there was no politics in this, but now some people indulge in this," he added. The former home secretary also stated that Pakistan would naturally retaliate as their terrorists deployed in the Indian territory have been killed. "We have wounded Pakistan and so they would seek revenge. The instruments for revenge that they have right now are the Jehadis whom they have already sent across the border a fortnight earlier. Some of them have been killed, but many terrorists are around and hiding there in the valley," said Singh. "These are the instruments of Pakistan. If Pakistan wants to take any action, they will use these terrorists for that purpose," he added. Colonel Rajiv Saharan, the commanding officer of 30 Rashtriya Rifles, Handwara, earlier today confirmed that three Pakistani-based terrorists attacked the camp at Langate in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. Three AK-47 rifles, two UBGL launchers, three GPS, four radio search, maps and metric sheet, and medicines were recovered from them. The attack comes days after terrorists attacked a Bolder Security Force (BSF) and adjoining camps in Baramulla district, where one soldier was killed in the attack. The attack also comes after the Indian Army conducted surgical strikes and destroyed seven terror launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC) last week. Last month, the terrorists had attacked the army brigade headquarters at Uri, killing 19 soldiers. (ANI)
