Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], July 4 (ANI): Commenting on the resignation of Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren, BJP Rajya Sabha member Deepak Prakash criticized the move, saying that once again, the state will have a government based on familism.
Speaking to ANI on Thursday, Prakash said, "Again, there will be a government based on familism in Jharkhand. The people are asking if there will be another looting of mineral wealth in the state, if there will be liquor scams again, and if there will be more land scam stories."
Prakash stated that during Hemant Soren's tenure as Chief Minister of Jharkhand, incidents related to atrocities faced by women were the highest. He further mentioned that Hemant Soren is fearful of the current situation in the state as the assembly elections approach.
"Hemant Soren is fearful of the situation because of the upcoming assembly elections, where he is trailing in 52 of the 81 seats. In the upcoming assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party and NDA alliance will surely form a double-engine government," he said.
He further added, "Champai Soren is a straightforward leader. He played a very important role during the Jharkhand Andolan, and there were no scams during his rule. What was his fault? He was discarded like a fly in the milk."
Champai Soren was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand five months ago after then-CM Hemant Soren was arrested for a money laundering case related to a land scam. On June 28, Hemant Soren was released from Birsa Munda Jail on bail granted by the Jharkhand High Court.
Champai Soren's resignation has set the ball rolling for Jharkhand Mukti Morcha executive president Hemant Soren, who is expected to take up the role of Jharkhand's CM again. (ANI)
