New Delhi [India], August 10 (ANI): BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla hit out at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over the death of the female post-graduate trainee (PGT) doctor whose body was found inside the seminar hall of the government-run R G Kar Medical College and alleged that the TMC has constituted an inquiry committee that has members who are close to the TMC party.
Shehzad Poonawalla said, "The body of a PGT trainee doctor was found in semi-nude condition in a government-run RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata. The father has alleged brutal rape and murder. Imagine, if women are not safe in a government-run college under the watch of Mamata Banerjee, what their plight might be in Sandeshkhali."
He further alleged that the state government has constituted an inquiry committee that has members who are close to the TMC party.
"Instead of ensuring that justice is served to the victim's family Mamata Banerjee's government has constituted an inquiry committee that has interns and members who are close to the TMC party. The doctors and medical fraternity is upset with this," he further said.
He further demanded a CBI probe to the incident.
He said that this is an anti-woman government and therefore, this kind of government has led to the women of West Bengal feeling most unsafe.
BJP leader NV Subhash said, "The BJP workers are bringing to the notice of the public that the law and order situation is grim in West Bengal. The TMC government and Mamata Banerjee are not taking care of the accused. This is nothing but one more Nirbhaya case which happened in West Bengal. Telangana BJP demands a thorough inquiry into this incident. This kind of incident should not happen, otherwise, the doctors of government hospitals will be afraid. They will not do their duty, and the poor and needy patients will suffer due to this."
Earlier, nurses in Kolkata held a rally on Saturday demanding justice after a female post-graduate trainee (PGT) doctor was found dead inside the seminar hall of the government-run R G Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9. (ANI)
