De-facto way of creating secession: Swamy on Shariat court proposal

New Delhi [India], July 9 (ANI): Dismissing the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) proposal on setting up Shariat courts in all districts across the country, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy on Monday said that it is a de-facto way of dividing the country and creating secession.
Speaking to ANI, Swamy said, "It's a de-facto way of dividing the country and creating secession. There is only one court and one law. The Constitution is a guiding force and anything outside it will not be acceptable."
The objective of the AIMPLB proposal was to resolve all issues within the Islamic law, instead of approaching other courts.
Swamy however said that the people who are trying to make an attempt to set up Shariat courts should be arrested under the National Security Act.
"Any attempt made (to set up Shariat courts), should be acted upon strongly by the government and these people should be arrested under the National Security Act," said Swamy.
Meanwhile, Karnataka minority welfare minister ZA Khan said, "It's a good proposal; it will help solve our problems. There is only one law in India but this is only meant to bring awareness among the Muslims." (ANI)
