DCW recruitment scam: ACB rebuts Kejriwal's claim, says his name added by complainant
New Delhi [India], Sept. 21 (ANI): The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday rebutted Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's claim that his name was included in an FIR at the behest of Prime Minister Narendra Modi which alleged irregularities in the Delhi Commission for Woman, saying that his name was included based on complaint filed by former DCW chief Barkha Shukla Singh. "Arvind Kejriwal's name was included in the FIR based on complaint filed by the complainant. ACB has no role in this," said M.K. Meena, Anti Corruption Bureau Chief, told media here. Meena further stated that the inquiry commission's report did not mention Kejriwal's name and has endorsed only Swati Malliwal and other officers in the case. "While filing FIR there is a procedure whereby we note down complaint's concerns as it is, we cannot manipulate it. Moreover the inquiry report has not endorsed Kejriwal's name in this case, only Swati Malliwal and other officers' name have been included," he said. Earlier today, Kejriwal while addressing a press conference said ,"Don't know why my name is in the FIR. What is my role in this? My role has not been mentioned even once in the FIR." "A CM's name does not come by itself in an FIR. It can only happen with the PM's consent," he added. Based on a complaint filed by former DCW chief Barkha Shukla Singh, the ACB, on Tuesday, booked Malliwal for irregularities in recruitments in the women's panel. The DCW is under the ACB scanner for arbitrarily appointing 85 people in the past year. Around 90 percent of contractual staff of the DCW is AAP members. Last month, Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal had said that Maliwal would be arrested soon as there are numerous decisions of the AAP-led Delhi Government which Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to be reversed through Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung. The Delhi BJP has sought Maliwal's removal, while the DCW chief has denied the allegations. (ANI)
