DCW forms panel to probe trafficking of 13 girls rescued from Meerut red light area
New Delhi [India], Sept. 7 (ANI): The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has constituted a committee under its member Sarika Chaudhary to probe the case of 13 girls who were trafficked to a brothel at Kabari Bazar in Meerut from Delhi's G.B Road. The committee will also inquire about how these girls reached the brothels in G.B. Road. The DCW swung into action after Shakti Vahini, a non-governmental organisation, and a partner of the DCW in its Crisis Intervention Cell (CIC) programme, rescued all the 13 girls with the help of the Meerut Police from the Kabari Bazar brothel. In the course of preliminary investigation, the DCW and the Meerut Police found that the girls were first trafficked to the G.B. Road brothels, from where they were shifted to the Meerut Kabari Bazar red light area. The committee comprises DCW's Human Trafficking Cell staff and members of Shakti Vahini. The DCW will record the statements of all the 13 rescued girls and launch an inquiry to find out which gangs are behind this organised crime to check human trafficking to G.B. Road. The Meerut Police have registered a case in this connection. (ANI)
