DCW for setting up of special committee to tackle rape incidents
New Delhi, July 25 (ANI): Expressing grave concern over the recent incidents of rape in the national capital, Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal on Monday urged the Centre to constitute a special committee headed by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh that would work in a coordinated fashion to tackle such crimes. Maliwal, who was interacting with the media after meeting the family members of the four-year-old rape victim at the Ambedkar Hospital here, said both the Centre and the Delhi Government must come together to deal with such sensitive issues. "Yesterday, a 14-year-old rape victim died a very painful death in Delhi. And today again, a four-year-old girl has been raped in a very brutal manner.I just want to ask who is responsible for this?" Maliwal said. "The Central Government should set-up a high level committee in Delhi, which consists of Rajnath Singh ji, Arvind Kejriwal ji, the LG, Police Commissioner and the Delhi Commission of Women chief. And we need to meet every week and work in a coordinated fashion," she added. Maliwal further said it is high time that the Central Government must take cognizance of such matters. The DCW chief had earlier this morning tweeted about the rape of the minor girl. "Woke up to another brutal rape of 4 year old by 30 year old man in Delhi. She's bled profusely is in hospital. Going to see her right now," she said. The fresh incident came to the fore after a 14-year-old Dalit girl, who was raped, tortured and forced to drink a corrosive substance allegedly by a man who had raped her earlier, died on Sunday at the Max Hospital in Shalimar Bagh.
