DCW flags rights violations at Children Home for Girls
New Delhi [India], May 1 (ANI): Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chairperson Swati Maliwal on Monday asked the Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia to transfer six staff members of children's home for girls following a complaint by 32 girls over human rights violations. Swati Maliwal visited the home on receiving the complaints. The surprise inspections lasted for over 10 hours wherein she interacted with the girls. The girls complained of repeated beating, being forcefully given injections which allegedly increased their body parts and disturbed their menstruation cycles, forced checking of their panties for signs of menstruation amongst others. Sisodia ordered for the immediate transfer of the six staff members, including the superintendent after being approached by Maliwal. However action is yet to be taken. Maliwal met Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik and recommended registration of an FIR against the staff. Maliwal said, "It is shocking that despite FIR being registered against the staff and orders of theDeputy CM for immediate transfer, the concerned officers are still present in the home." Maliwal raised the same issue before the Special Task Force on Women Safety chaired by Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Anil Baijal. (ANI)
