"Dahi handi of 2024 will be broken by PM Modi": Maharashtra CM Shinde

Amid the Opposition's efforts to put up a unified challenge to the BJP-central government in next year's Lok Sabha elections, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Thursday said it does not matter what they do as the 'Dahi handi' in 2024 will be busted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the blessings of the people.

Thane (Maharashtra) [India], September 7 (ANI): Amid the Opposition's efforts to put up a unified challenge to the BJP-central government in next year's Lok Sabha elections, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Thursday said it does not matter what they do as the 'Dahi handi' in 2024 will be busted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the blessings of the people.
Speaking to reporters in Thane, where he was attending an event organised to celebrate Krishna Janmashtami, CM Shinde said, "No matter how many people unite to oppose one person, it is impossible to defeat Narendra Modi. Because the people of the country have decided to bring back the person, who is taking the country forward and putting it on course to being a developed country. That's why, the Lok Sabha 'Dahi handi' of 2024 will be broken by Narendra Modi with the blessings of the people," Shinde said.
He made the remarks in response to a question about DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin's rant against Sanatana Dharma.
Speaking at the Chennai conference last week, Udhayanidhi likened 'Sanatana' (Sanatan Dharma) to malaria and dengue, which, he said, should not be merely opposed but eradicated.
"A few things cannot be opposed but should only be abolished. We can't merely oppose dengue, mosquitoes, malaria, or corona. They have to be eradicated. Rather than opposing Sanatana, it should be eradicated," Udhayanidhi said.
Earlier, on Thursday, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut advised the DMK leader to refrain from making public statements, which only serve to give ammunition to the BJP to have a go at the Opposition alliance — INDIA.
The bloc of 28 Opposition parties is bidding to unseat the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government from power at the Centre. (ANI)
