CWC Meet today: Focus on Caste Census, Poll Strategy upcoming elections and others

The meeting will hold discussions on various issues from poll strategies for the upcoming elections to caste-based census.

New Delhi [India], October 9 (ANI): The Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting scheduled to be held on October 9 has commenced in the national capital.
The meeting will hold discussions on various issues from poll strategies for the upcoming elections to caste-based census and the Women's Reservation Act.
Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress leaders Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Rahul Gandhi arrived at the AICC office to attend the meeting.
Along with them the Chief Ministers of all the Congress-ruled states and the top party brass will deliberate on several issues at the CWC meeting.

Speaking about the CWC meeting, Congress leader Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa said, "In the CWC meeting we will discuss our strategy, what we are going to do, how we are going to do it, and which leaders will get the duty for the upcoming state elections."

Earlier today, Congress MP Deepender S Hooda also spoke about the meet and said, "The party's strategy and preparedness for upcoming 5 states elections and Lok Sabha polls will be discussed. Himachal aur Karnataka toh abhi jhanki hain, poora Hindustan abhi dikhana baaki hai."

Talking about the caste-based census, Congress leader Bhanwar Jitendra Singh said, "In the Udaipur declaration and the CWC meeting, we have decided that the Congress party is in favour of caste-based census. Orders have been given, and the process has started in Rajasthan... There should be no doubt about it."

The chief ministers of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh, besides the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leaders in the five poll-bound states, will attend the CWC meet.
The CWC has 39 regular members, 32 permanent invitees and 13 special invitees, including 15 women and several new faces.
Earlier, Congress held a two-day Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Hyderabad with party leaders expressing optimism about receiving a "clear mandate" in the upcoming assembly elections in five states.
Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Rajasthan and Telangana are set to go to polls later this year.
"We will fulfil their expectations of law and order, freedom, social and economic justice, equality and equity," the party took a resolution during the meeting.
The party also announced six guarantees for the people of Telangana after the CWC meeting.
General Secretary KC Venugopal said, "The Congress has announced 6 Guarantees to transform Telangana into a prosperous state so as to address the needs of the poor, and backward and ensure that marginalised are uplifted and live a life of dignity." (ANI)
