New Delhi [India], April 23 (ANI): Extending deep condolences to the bereaved families, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday said that culprits involved in the Pahalgam terror attack will not be spared at any cost.
Terming the attack as an "assault on the nation" and to the "spirit of Kashmiriyat", Chouhan said, "The culprits will not be spared at any cost. We stand with the affected families, express our condolences, and are with them in this hour of grief and crisis."
The remarks were made during a programme on 'One Nation One Election' at Dr Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi.
To honour the victims of the Pahalgam attack, Union Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Mansukh Mandaviya, and BJP National General Secretary Sunil Bansal observed a one-minute silence.
Earlier on X, he wrote, "The news of the cowardly attack on innocent civilians by terrorists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir is heart-wrenching and angered. The entire nation expresses its sympathies with the families of the civilians killed in this reprehensible act committed by terrorists. Our brave soldiers will definitely give a befitting reply to the cowardice of the terrorists. As long as the brave sons of Mother India are there, the designs of those who want to disturb the peace in Jammu and Kashmir will never succeed."
This has been one of the biggest terror attacks after the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019. The government, however, has yet to officially confirm the number of casualties in the terror attack in Pahalgam.
The security in the region had been heightened as army personnel arrived at the meadow in Pahalgam.
Earlier today, Home Minister Amit Shah visited the affected area of Baisaran meadow where the attack took place. The Union Minister first took an aerial stock of the region as he arrived at the site by helicopter, descending onto the meadow now bearing the scars of violence, earlier in the day.
Meanwhile, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also chaired a meeting with NSA Ajit Doval, Air Force's Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh, and other officials, discussing the security situation in the region. (ANI)
