CRPF concerned over Kashmir stone pelting incidents
Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], April 25 (ANI): A video showing school girls indulging in stone pelting led Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Inspector General Ravi Deep Sahi to express concern over the incident. "The situation is fragile, but under control in the valley. After elections, stone pelting incidents have reduced. The cause of concern here is over student's participation in it, but it was later found that more outsiders than students had participated," Sahi told reporters here. Sahi further said rubber bullets are being considered as an alternative to pellet guns to control riots in the valley. "Rubber bullets are also an option, they can be an effective measure for mob control. Our motto has been, minimum force maximum restraint and our jawans have been diligently following that," he added. Scores of school and college students were seen clashing with security forces in Kashmir's Maulana Azad Road area on Monday. A security forces' vehicle was attacked by youth with bricks and sticks. In response, security forces used water canons to disperse the protesting students. The clash erupted a day after Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discussed about deteriorating situation in the valley. (ANI)
