CPI-M will become irrelevant in Indian politics by 2017, says TMC leader Mukul Roy
Agartala (Tripura), Aug.9 (ANI): Trinamool Congress leader Mukul Roy has predicted that by 2017, the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) will become irrelevant in the Indian political context. Addressing media here a day before the visit of TMC leader and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Roy said, "As per prediction made by Rabindranath Tagore, later in the year 1995, under the leadership of Mikhail Gorbachev, the Communist party of Soviet Union collapsed. Similarly, in India, you can note it down that, under the leadership of Sitaram Yechuri, Surjya Kanta Mishra and Manik Babu, the CPI-M will collapse in the year 2017 and there shall be no party called CPI-M in India." Roy said, "India is a democracy, but that democracy does not exist in Tripura. As like for 35 years there was no democracy in Bengal, similarly democracy does not exist in Tripura. CPI-M has totally quashed democracy under party system with single party rule. Ninth August is an important historical day for India as Mahatma Gandhi had given the call for quit India against the British similarly on this date Mamata Banerjee from the stable ground will give the same call against the CPIM which in fact has turned in to an irrelevant party in Indian." In the evening TMC chairperson Mamata Banerjee arrived here to address her maiden rally at Tripura on Tuesday, for making the same dent in the Left-ruled north-eastern state as it did in its home state.
