Country would not have existed had I wanted to break it: Farooq Abdullah

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], Apr 15 (ANI): National Conference (NC) patron Farooq Abdullah on Monday reiterated his stance on Kashmir saying that if he had wished to break India, then the country would not have existed.
"I challenge Prime Minister Narendra Modi from here in this gathering that you will break apart, but India will not. You are saying that Abdullah wants to break India. If I had wished to break India, then the country would not have existed," Abdullah said in a public rally here.
On April 8, Abdullah warned the BJP that if the party abrogates Article 370 in the Indian Constitution, which grants special rights to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, then he would do everything in his power to help the state gain independence from India.
Abdullah had also said that if Article 370 is repealed then the national flag will not be unfurled in the state.
“They think they will bring people from outside and make them settle here to decrease our number and we will remain sleeping? We will fight against it. We will stand up against it. How will you end Article 370?" the former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister had said in a public rally in Srinagar from where he is contesting the Lok Sabha elections.
He added, "I swear by the name of Allah, if it would only be acceptable to Allah then we will get independence from them (India). Let them do, we will also see! We will also see who will stand for flying their flag,” he had added.
Polling for six constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir will be held in the first five phases which began on April 11 and will end on May 6. Polling for two constituencies, Jammu and Baramulla, took place on April 11, while election to two seats, Udhampur and Srinagar, will be held on April 18. Anantnag will go to polls in the next three phases, April 23 (Anantnag), April 29 (Anantnag - Kulgam district) and May 6 Anantnag (Shopian and Pulwama districts). Ladakh too will witness polls on May 6. (ANI)
