Anandpur Sahib (Punjab) [India] May 2 (ANI): Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Thursday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken the power and prestige of the country to unprecedented heights through matchless international diplomacy. He further said that the country needs a Prime Minister "whom the enemies fear and the international community respects."
Badal while addressing several election rallies to mobilize support for the Akali BJP candidate Prem Singh Chandumajra claimed that "Modi is the only one who fits this definition."
"Modi has taken the power and prestige of the country to unprecedented heights through matchless international diplomacy. Even the UN and countries like US and China listen to him with respect. This speaks of the new status of the country under PM Modi" Badal added.
Badal lashed out against the Congress government in the state and added that the "forthcoming Lok Sabha poll will rid Punjab of the inefficient, inaccessible and invisible Chief Minister."
He further said that the Congress was facing an "anger wave" in the state.
The Akali leader alleged that "Congress is indifferent towards farmers who are badly hit by the tardy procurement of wheat. There is an acute shortage of gunny bags in the Mandis resulting in a long wait for farmers but there is no one they can turn to for help."
"The only thing the CM does for farmers is issue statements for press publicity, " Badal alleged.
Badal also said that the poll campaign of the "dissension-hit Congress in Punjab is in complete disarray. Their leaders are busy pulling one another down."
He finally claimed that now the SAD and BJP alliance in Punjab has become a guarantee of peace and communal harmony in the state. (ANI)
