"Conspiracy": Akhilesh Yadav hits out at BJP after shoe hurled at Swami Prasad Maurya in Lucknow

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Monday slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after a shoe was hurled at a party event on Swami Prasad Maurya and alleged that it is the conspiracy of BJP to spoil this event and disrespect a big leader of the backward community.

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], August 21 (ANI): Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Monday slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after a shoe was hurled at a party event on Swami Prasad Maurya and alleged that it is the conspiracy of BJP to spoil this event and disrespect a big leader of the backward community. 
Speaking to the reporters in Lucknow, Akhilesh Yadav said, "The conspiracy to spoil this event and disrespect a big leader of the backward community was done on the instructions of BJP and the govt."
"Those who talk about 'zero tolerance', I want to tell them there is no 'zero tolerance' here. Anyone can enter an event and disrespect a senior leader," he added. 
Earlier today a man hurled a shoe at Samajwadi Party leader Swami Prasad Maurya in Lucknow at the party's OBC Mahasammelan. 
Police said that the man who attacked the SP leader Maurya was taken into custody. 
Before joining Samajwadi Party, Swami Prasad Maurya was a member of the BJP till year 2022. (ANI)
