Congress' MCD campaign wasn't aggressive: Sheila Dikshit

New Delhi (India) Apr 26 (ANI) Former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit, on Wednesday, said that the Congress didn't do aggressive campaigning to fight the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections, in which, the trends show that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is poised to retain power of the civic body. Welcoming the verdict of the voters, she said, "We think that this time anti-incumbency is there, but the people have their own mood." When asked why she didn't campaign for the party, senior Congress leader flatly replied, "No one asked me to do so. If I would have been invited then I would have surely campaigned." Dikshit said the party high command would review the results to ascertain the reasons behind the defeat. Evading the question whether Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) President Ajay Maken should take the responsibility of the humiliating defeat, she said, "A review is must to ensure mistake is not repeated in next general and assembly elections." Further, commenting on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) allegation that Electronic Voting Machines (EVMS) were tampered with, the senior Congress leader said, "Losers blame EVMs, but winners don't." The Veteran Congress leader, however, exhorted the government and the Election Commission to clear the air on the EVMs. When asked about the Congress' continuous defeat, Dikshit said that the grand-old party would come back again. "The BJP was also out of power for decades," she stated. The current trends are showing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the lead, followed by the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) at second place and the Congress party at the third. (ANI)
