Congress' attempt at raking up EVMs will fail miserably: BJP
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], Apr 17 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday criticised Digvijaya Singh's remark on the Electronic Voting Machines' (EVMs) alleged tampering, stating that such kind of strategies adopted by the Congress party would fail miserably. "Digvijaya Singh is a loose canon in the Congress party. They (Congress) have made it a strategy to ensure that each and every leader speaks against the EVMs every day to keep it in the news. They believe that such news can shake the faith of the people over the EVMs," BJP leader S. Prakash told ANI. Citing Congress' 'failed attempt' to rake up the demonetisation issue, the BJP leader further said, "These kind of strategies employed by the Congress in the past had failed miserably. For example, their campaign against demonetisation. They will face a similar fate with the allegations on the EVMs too, if they continue with this demand." Yesterday, Digvijaya alleged the Election Commission (EC) was limiting objections to the EVMs to hacking. "The Election Commission is limiting objections to the EVMs to hacking. It must allow the examination of possibility of software tampering at a stage of writing it from server," Singh tweeted. He added there was a strong possibility of modifying the coding at the stage of writing software i.e. the EVMs can be pre-tampered. "There is no need for hacking. The Election Commission must devise a way of supervision by political parties of coding software to the EVMs like it does at subsequent stages," Singh asserted. (ANI)
