Congress to hold meeting of training heads in run-up to Lok Sabha, Assembly polls

New Delhi [India], March 15 (ANI): Congress has called heads of all state training cells for a daylong session on March 18.
The aim of this meeting, which will be for the first in this poll season, is to train party workers in the run-up to the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
A Congress worker who will be participating in the programme said, "The main objective of this meeting is to tell the state units to prepare workers who are ideologically committed to the party and also to mould them towards Congress's political motives. Similar training will be followed at the block level in due course."
The Lok Sabha elections, which are due in April-May will see a high voltage campaign in the country this time around with all political parties putting their best foot forward and forging historic alliances keeping aside political differences of the past.
In last elections, Congress was reduced to 44 seats, which was its poorest electoral performance since independence.
However, as per reports, it had bagged the second position in 224 parliamentary constituencies.
On March 10, the Election Commission of India (ECI) had announced the schedule for the 17th Lok Sabha election to be held in seven phases beginning April 11. The final phase of voting will take place on May 19. The counting of votes will be done on May 23.
The last date for withdrawal of candidature for the first phase is March 28 while the first phase polling will take place on April 11.
The phase two polling will be on April 18, the third phase on April 23, fourth phase on April 29, fifth phase on May 6, sixth phase on May 12, and the phase seven polling will take place on May 19.
The tenure of the 16th Lok Sabha expires on June 3. (ANI)
