Congress supports Nitish Kumar, says River Ganga searching for his 'son'
New Delhi [India], Feb. 26 (ANI): Supporting Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over his remark on Prime Minister Narendra Modi being looked for by his 'mother' Ganga, the Congress on Sunday said PM Modi has always failed to carry on his responsibilities and fulfill promises made to people. "Well, that is a reality. He has gone around making statements that he is the son of Varanasi, adopted son in another district. So, naturally people will ask questions because no delivery anywhere. He is a brilliant speaker, but there is no delivery system," Congress leader Tom Vadakkan told ANI. Congress leader Shobha Oza seconded her party's view, saying that the Prime Minister delayed the cleaning process of the River Ganga to the extent that the Supreme Court had to rebuke the Central government over the same. "We all saw how before Lok Sabha, Prime Minister Modi went to Varanasi and said 'Mother Ganga has called me.' But we all saw how issue of cleaning up the River Ganga was delayed. The Supreme Court had to rebuke the government by saying that with the speed with which the cleaning process is taking place, it might take a century to complete it. So, it shows that the promises made by him have still not been fulfilled. So, Nitish ji has rightly said the Ganga is looking for his son (Prime Minister Modi) now," she told ANI. Nitish on Saturday took a dig at Prime Minister Modi by questioning his 'mother-son' relationship with the holy river. "Kaha gaya? 'Maa Ganga ne bulaya hai'? Hum Banaras gaye toh log keh rahe the Ganga Maa khoj rhi thi kahan gaya mera beta," he said while addressing a rally in Patna. (ANI)
