Congress stands firm on PM's presence in Parliament
New Delhi [India], Nov. 23(ANI): The Congress party on Wednesday again called on the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to be present in parliament during the discussion on demonetisation. "We are not against demonetisation, but by the way the Centre has adopted. People are facing problems.Small traders are facing problems. Framers and labourers are facing problems. We are protesting for that. Without thinking what they have done and because of which the poor are paying, to highlight that we are protesting," said Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge. "The Prime Minister's decision has taken the lives of 74 people," Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Raj Babbar told media. Senior Congress leader Oscar Fernandes said that Prime Minister Modi should come to parliament and discuss the issue instead of speaking to the media. "People have sent their MPs to parliament by electing them. The announcement was made by the Prime Minister and not by the RBI governor or the finance minister," he added. The Opposition has put up a united front against the Centre over demonetisation on Wednesday. They formed a long human chain outside parliament and chanted slogans and carried placards.(ANI)
