Congress says BJP almost agreeing with Rahul that Modi as unclear as Ganga
New Delhi [India], Dec. 22 (ANI): The Congress on Thursday said Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad's comparison of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the purity of the Ganga suggests that there seems to be an agreement with the charges made by Rahul Gandhi, as now even the Ganga is unclean. "Prime Minister has been compared with the Ganga. Even Ganga now a days is not as clean as his party thinks. They are almost agreeing with Rahul Gandhi. If the Prime Minister is like the Ganga, then definitely it needs an enquiry," Congress leader P.C. Chacko told ANI. Chacko further said "The Prime Minister who has taken a crusade against corruption; all the drama we see in the name of corruption is all bogus and all the members of party are part and parcel of the corruption which is prevailing in this country," he said. Another Congress leader Tom Vadakkan said, "We want the prime minister to be innocent that is what Rahul Gandhi is saying. But the question has to be answered and the investigation has to be done. Till such time he proves that he is innocent, he cannot hide behind his spokesperson. It is about the credibility of the prime minister." Meanwhile, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has also demanded an investigation in the matter. "If the charges made by Rahul Gandhi are correct then the matter should be investigated and the guilty should be punished," said DMK spokesperson TKS Elangovan. On Wednesday, Ravi Shankar Prasad said Prime Minister Modi is 'pure like Ganga' and it isn't justified to level such charges against the Prime Minister of a country. "PM Narendra Modi is pure like Ganga and levelling such serious charges against Modi isn't justified," the Union Minister said in a press conference. Speaking in Gujarat's Mehsana yesterday, Gandhi alleged that in the records with the Income Tax, there were notings of Sahara officials' claims that they paid Prime Minister Modi nine times between October 2013 and February 2014 and that the total amount was Rs. 40 crore. He also alleged that according to documents with the IT department, the Birla Group too paid Rs. 12 crore to the Prime Minister. Seeking an independent inquiry, Gandhi said that he was raising the issue "on behalf of the country". (ANI)
