Congress rejects exit polls, says no 'Modi wave' can make BJP win
New Delhi [India], Mar. 11 (ANI): Positive of winning at least three out of five states on their own in the Assembly election, the Congress party on Saturday dismissed the victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections as per exit polls and said that no 'Modi wave' that can make the saffron party win. Congress leader Madhu Yashki Goud told ANI that the Assembly Election results are going to be quite positive for the grand old party and will be a game changer in the elections. "Most of these exit polls show the government puts pressure on various TV channels and tries to influence them. But if you look at the conflicting reports which have come and the news which is coming now, is very encouraging. We are now hopefully winning at least three out of five states on our own. And we hope to form a government with the Samajwadi Party in UP. So it looks very positive and the BJP is almost wiped out in Punjab so this shows that there is no 'Modi wave' which the BJP is trying to claim," he added. Reacting to the poll survey, The BJP said all exit polls are indicating Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi's exit, and added the latter should be given an opportunity to be happy for one more day. "Tell Rahul Gandhi that many exit polls were shown earlier but this time the predictions are indicating only Rahul Gandhi's exit," BJP leader Kiran Kher told ANI. BJP leader and Union Minister Sanjeev Balyan also ridiculed Gandhi and said, "Let Rahul Gandhi remain happy for one more day. We should give him this opportunity to live in this misunderstanding for one more day as it will all be clear by tomorrow after the result declaration." The exit polls on Thursday gave the BJP a clear edge in the heartland state of Uttar Pradesh though the number of seats that the party can win swung wildly. In Punjab, all polls predicted the exit of the ruling SAD-BJP alliance and a neck-and-neck fight between the Congress and AAP. Meanwhile, elaborate arrangements and heavy security are in place for today's crucial counting of votes for Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur Assembly Elections. The counting will start at 8 in the morning and firstly, all the postal ballots will be counted. The Election Commission (EC) has issued guidelines on security arrangements for counting of votes, and has also set up facilities for disseminating trends and results of elections of five assemblies.
