New Delhi [India], Dec. 31(ANI): Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Saturday extended her New Year wishes to the people of India. "I expect 2017 to be the year of peace, social harmony and development for India. Hope that the country be leader in world peace, humanity and love," she said. Gandhi also wished the soldiers of the Indian Army posted at the border. She said, "`because of the courage and valour of our jawans, we all are protected and secure." She also expected the borders to be calm and peace throughout the year "Hope that the people of the country in 2017 live with social harmony, equality and fraternity," Gandhi added. Earlier, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi also expressed his New Year greeting through social media platform Twitter before leaving for his holidays. "I will be traveling for the next few days.Happy New Year to everyone,wishing you and your loved ones success & happiness in this coming year," he said in a tweet. (ANI)
