Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], July 9 (ANI): Union Minister and Telangana BJP chief G Kishan Reddy on Tuesday hit out at Congress over the six guarantees the party made during the Telangana Assembly elections and said that the party failed to implement these guarantees adding that Congress party's habit is to give "false guarantees."
"When in Opposition, Congress made different promises to the people of Telangana during Assembly elections. In the name of 6 guarantees, Sonia Gandhi herself wrote a letter to every household in Telangana... She wrote that she is the mother of Telangana, support her and when they come to power they will fulfill all 6 guarantees within 100 days. Congress came to power in the state on the basis of these promises. Rahul Gandhi visited villages. But even after 7 months, not even one scheme has been implemented,"
Reddy questioned Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi asking why the party has not implemented guarantees in Telangana.
"CM Revanth Reddy only goes across villages, he is postponing but nothing is happening. So, BJP wants to question the Congress party, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi - why are you not implementing the guarantees on the basis of which you came to power? Those were false guarantees, guarantees to lure people...It is the Congress party's habit to give false guarantees...So, the people of Telangana are upset with Congress. So, BJP received 36 per cent of the votes in Telangana in the Lok Sabha elections and won 8 seats. In the days to come, we will come to power in Telangana," he added.
During the election campaign, Congress released six guarantees for the people of the state. The party named the six guarantees as 'Abhaya Hastham'.
Under the 'Mahalakshmi' scheme, the party promised to give Rs 2,500 monthly financial assistance to women. Gas Cylinders at Rs 500 and free travel for women in TSRTC buses across the state.
The "Rythu Bharosa" scheme was for farmers and agriculture labourers. Under this scheme, the Congress promises financial assistance of Rs 15,000 for farmers, 12,000 per year to agriculture labourers, and a bonus of Rs500 per quintal for paddy above the minimum support price.
Other guarantees are for the state's poor families and students, promising them land and financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh for the construction of houses, 200 units of free electricity, and financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh for pursuing higher education, etc.
Telangana went to polls on November 30 and the counting of votes took place on December 3. (ANI)
