Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], December 12 (ANI): Launching a scathing attack against the Congress-led Telangana government, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President KT Rama Rao on Thursday called it an "abject failure" and said that Congress party's saga of betrayal is endless.
"The Congress party in Telangana has been an abject failure... Their saga of betrayal is endless... They are tampering with the cultural icons, with the Telangana self-respect and pride. I wrote to Rahul Gandhi that we are compelled that when BRS comes back three years later, we will change the name of all the institutions named after Rajiv Gandhi and Indira Gandhi... We are also looking at various scams that have unfolded in their one year of governance in Telangana..." said KT Rama Rao.
In a statement released by the party on Wednesday, KTR highlighted various issues that he claims the Telangana government is responsible for, including "job crisis, and neglecting women and marginalised groups."
"By imposing an incompetent and ineffective Chief Minister, your (Congress) government has caused suffering across all sectors, from farmers to women," KTR said on the first anniversary of the Congress government in Telangana.
On the alleged unfilled promises and growing public discontent, KTR mentioned that the 420 promises mentioned in the Congress manifesto are still "unfulfilled."
"The 420 assurances made in the Congress manifesto remain unfulfilled, tarnishing the party's credibility. "Your government, which came with much fanfare, has shown no responsibility towards Telangana," KTR said.
From the agricultural sector to the industrial domain, KTR claimed widespread discontent, with farmers being particularly hit.
"Loan waivers and agricultural support were delayed, leading to 620 farmer suicides, yet your Chief Minister has shown no remorse," he said.
Talking about how the current government has "let down" women and other marginalised groups, he said that various promises including pensions for different groups are unfulfilled, the statement read.
"Apart from a partially implemented free bus travel scheme, none of the promises made to women have been delivered," he stated.
Accusing the Congress government of corruption, KTR pointed to mismanagement of major projects like the Musi beautification initiative. "This project has cost taxpayers lakhs of crores, exposing the rampant corruption under your administration," he said.
KTR asked Rahul Gandhi and the Congress government to stop their "diversion tactics" and fulfil their promises, urging them to prioritize the welfare of Telangana's citizens over party politics. (ANI)
