New Delhi [India], October 14 (ANI): Reacting to the incident of 518 kg of cocaine being seiezed in Ankleshwar city of Gujarat, the Congress leader Mumtaz Patel on Monday accused the BJP government of allowing illegal activities in Gujarat.
"The question arises whether Gujarat has become the gateway to drugs. Because even in 2022, there were seizures of drugs and in August too, drugs worth Rs 1300 crore were seized. Even during the Lok Sabha 2024 elections, when the Election Commission's report came, 30 per cent of the drugs recovered were from Gujarat." she said.
The Congress leader said that a BJP government has been in charge of the state for 30 years and such activities were happening under its nose.
"Such incidents are happening every day, due to which now the government is trying to be proactive and is also trying to bring anti-drug laws. This disease of drug addiction affects the entire society and this fight is of the entire society. We used to hear about Udta Punjab, but Udta Gujarat is happening... There is a BJP government there for 30 years and this is happening under their nose," she said.
Earlier on Sunday, Delhi Police and Gujarat Police carried out a joint operation and seized 518 kilograms of cocaine worth Rs 5,000 crore. The crackdown was conducted in line with the policy of Zero Tolerance against Drugs and Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
During a thorough search of Avkar Drugs Limited Company in Ankleshwar, Gujarat, a significant amount of cocaine was seized, underscoring the importance of vigilance in combating drug-related activities.
The Special Cell of Delhi Police and Gujarat Police arrested five people on Monday in connection with a cocaine drug bust case.
On October 1, the Special Cell of Delhi Police conducted a raid at Tushar Goyal's warehouse in Mahipalpur, where they discovered and confiscated a consignment of 562 kilograms of cocaine and 40 kilograms of hydroponic marijuana.
