New Delhi [India], January 29 (ANI): In a sharp attack on Congress, BJP national spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill said that Rahul Gandhi, who claims to be against corruption, had joined hands with RJD chief and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, who has been convicted in a corruption case.
He was responding to Congress leaders for criticising Nitish Kumar for snapping ties with Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) in Bihar and agains joining hands with the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance again on Sunday.
Shergill told ANI, "Congress has the habit of blaming others for their own faults and failures. Congress has no locus standi to talk about any ideological change."
"Congress is the same party that joined hands with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who used to call Congress leader Sonia Gandhi a corrupt person. The same Arvind Kejriwal demanded that Rajiv Gandhi's Bharat Ratna be taken back. Congress joined hands with Uddhav Thackeray (a Maha Vikas Aghadi ally in Maharashtra), for whom Savarkar is an idol and Rahul Gandhi abuses the same idol".
He alleged that INDI partners have realised that joining hands with Congress is akin to embarking on a "journey of darkness."
"Rahul Gandhi says he is against corruption, but on the other hand, he joined hands with Lalu Yadav, who is convicted in a corruption case...".
He further said that Congress reminds him of the famous Hindi proverb: "Naach na jaane, aangan tedha..." (one who knows no dance claims that the stage is tilted.)
"The fact of the matter is that INDI partners have realised that going with Congress is akin to a journey of darkness because Congress does not believe in the light of development," the BJP leader said, taking a dig at the grand old party, adding that "Congress is a sinking ship..."
On Sunday, Nitish Kumar took the oath for the record ninth time as Chief Minister of Bihar.
The development comes just ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. (ANI)
