Deoghar (Jharkhand) [India], April 2 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Nishikant Dubey lashed out at the Congress party, stating that they did not follow the income tax rule and consequently their bank accounts got frozen.
"If an individual or a political party accumulates cash, then they also have to file an income tax return and must adhere to the income tax rule. The Congress party has not been following the I-T department's rules," he slammed.
"They received the notice from the I-T department in 2016-17. Instead of answering the notice, they approached the appellate tribunal. The tribunal asked them to deposit cash," he added.
He further stated that Congress moved the High Court but was told that the income-tax proceedings were right. "They moved to the apex court, but the SC too justified the act of money seizing by the I-T department," he added.
Lashing out further for putting "baseless allegations against the BJP," he said that now the Congress is claiming that we are trying to harass them during the time of elections.
"Congress is a corrupt party. They engage in making false statements," he said.
Meanwhile, BJP leader Sambit Patra also accused the Congress of not complying with income tax rules, leading to the freezing of their bank accounts.
He stated that Congress not only missed the extended deadline for filing tax returns but also exceeded the limit for cash donations.
Notably, the Congress alleged that the BJP froze its bank accounts ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, making it difficult for them to prepare for the elections.
Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi alleged that there is a "systematic effort" underway by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to "cripple" the Indian National Congress financially, calling it "unprecedented and undemocratic." (ANI)
