"Congress ignored Bastar...": Chhattisgarh's Finance Minister OP Choudhary
Chhattisgarh Finance Minister OP Choudhary on Tuesday in his budget speech accused the Congress party of ignoring Bastar and said that the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) government accomplished several major development works in the state.
Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], February 13 (ANI): Chhattisgarh Finance Minister OP Choudhary on Tuesday in his budget speech accused the Congress party of ignoring Bastar and said that the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) government accomplished several major development works in the state.
He criticized the Congress for hindering Bastar's development under the guise of cultural protection.
While acknowledging former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao for major economic reforms in 1991, Choudhary claimed that Manmohan Singh falsely took credit for it. The Finance Minister highlighted the government's focus on Bastar and Surguja, noting a provision of Rs 6400 crore for irrigation in Surguja and emphasizing the commitment to linking every region with development.
"On the pretext of cultural protection, the development of Bastar was not allowed," he added.
Appreciating former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao for bringing major economic reform in 1991, he said, "Manmohan Singh falsely got the credit for it."
The Finance Minister highlighted the focus on Bastar and Surguja, adding to which he said, "Provision of Rs 6400 cr made for irrigation in Surguja. Every region will be linked with the development."
"Targets will be achieved with clear intention involving technology and transparency," he assured.
Highlighting the government's determination to develop the state, Choudhary said, "In the coming days, the government is committed to the development of newly formed districts. Vishnu Deo Sai-led state government is committed to the welfare of women."
He also expressed commitment to the implementation of the Mahatari Vandan Yojana. (ANI)
Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Of Chhattisgarh, Vijay Sharma visited the Naxal-affected Silger village on the Sukma-Bijapur border in Sukma district.
Deputy CM visited after a recent Naxal attack near Silger village that claimed the lives of three individuals and left 14 others injured on January 30.
Upon his arrival, Sharma engaged with soldiers and local villagers in Bastar's Silger which is known to be the worst Naxal-affected area in the state, inquiring about their well-being and gaining insights into the prevailing situation.
He took the opportunity to apprise the villagers of various government schemes aimed at fostering development and improving living standards in the region.
He emphasised the government's commitment to providing essential facilities such as electricity, roads, drinking water, ration distribution, and healthcare services to the villagers. (ANI)
