Congress holds AAP, Delhi Police responsible for deteriorating law and order
New Delhi, [India], Sept 20 (ANI): The Congress on Wednesday fired a fresh salvo at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Delhi Police after a girl was stabbed multiple times in broad daylight in North Delhi's Burari area and said that such incidents are increasing in the national capital as both are busy fighting amongst themselves. Congress general secretary Ajay Maken said both the AAP Government and Delhi Police are not performing their duties and should be held responsible for the deteriorating law and order situation in the national capital. "This is not the first case. The incidents of involving women are increasing in Delhi. It is very saddening because when we look at this incident from the angle of law and order or as a social issue we find that both the Delhi Government and Delhi Police have failed to execute their duties," said Maken. "Incidents of similar nature are increasing because the Delhi Government and Delhi Police are busy fighting amongst themselves. Both of them are not interested in performing their duties and giving good governance," he added. A 21-year-old woman was mercilessly stabbed to death by a man, who had been stalking her for months, in Burari area this morning. The woman, Karuna, was working as a teacher at the Novel Reaches School. DCP (North) Madhur Verma said the assailant had been troubling the woman since a year. "The family had lodged a complaint four to five months back and both families had reached a compromise. The assailant is 34 years old and his divorce case is going on. There are 22 stab wounds on the girl's body and she was declared brought dead at the Trauma Center," he added. The victim's family had lodged a complaint four to five months back following which both families had reached a compromise. The woman was declared brought dead at the Sushruta Trauma Centre. Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal has dubbed the incident as extremely shameful. "It comes on a day when we are coming out with our annual report and this heinous and nerve chilling crime incident takes place. The DCW is working to improve the situation but it cannot happen unless and until both the Centre and state work together, she told ANI. (ANI)
