Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], Apr 4 (ANI): Ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, Congress MP Rajeev Gowda on Thursday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to read the Congress manifesto carefully, saying that his party has a constructive and cooperative attitude, and not a 'dictatorial attitude' like PM Modi

Congress has been targetted by Prime Minister Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over its poll promise of reviewing the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA). On Wednesday, Prime Minister Modi termed the Congress party manifesto for the Lok Sabha polls as the “planning document of Pakistan’s conspiracy" while Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman called it as 'anti-national and separatist-friendly’ and said it will dilute the immunity of security forces.

Speaking to ANI, Gowda said: "AFSPA is a law to take strict actions against any anti-national activity. The Congress party is committed to opposing terrorism and will ensure that the armed forces will have all the support and shield that they require. Using this law nobody can get away from the crime. The Congress is committed to balancing security with human rights and we urge PM Modi to read our manifesto carefully for a better understanding of what the Congress is offering."

Stating that Congress manifesto is creating a positive wave in the country, Gowda said: "Prime Minister Modi talks about cooperative federalism but the Congress has historically worked very hard with states across the country to ensure that the benefits under central schemes are delivered well. Congress party has a constructive and cooperative attitude, and not a dictatorial attitude like Modi."

Gowda further said that the Congress will win all 17 parliamentary seats in Telangana because the people know that they have committed a mistake by choosing K Chandrashekhar Rao as their chief minister.

Telangana will go to polls in a single phase for all 17 Lok Sabha seats on April 11. Results will be declared on May 23. (ANI)
