Congress govt removed nameplates of dignitaries who contributed to Karnataka's heritage alleges BJP

BJP's State President and MLA from Shikaripura Assembly Constituency, Karnataka, Vijayendra Yediyurappa alleged that the Congress government in the state was behaving like Muhammad of Ghazni and during the ongoing Navratri at Mysore the nameplates of the great men who contributed greatly to Karnataka's heritage, culture and literature were removed.

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], October 3 (ANI): BJP's State President and MLA from Shikaripura Assembly Constituency, Karnataka, Vijayendra Yediyurappa alleged that the Congress government in the state was behaving like Muhammad of Ghazni and during the ongoing Dusshera celebrations at Mysore the nameplates of the great men who contributed greatly to Karnataka's heritage, culture and literature had been removed.
In a post on X, Vijayendra Yediyurappa shared, "The Congress government insulted the nobles of the Kannada nation by adopting the culture of the infamous Ghazni Muhammad who vandalized Hindu temples on the occasion of the festival Dussehra."
He said that in the past, Dussehra exhibitions the state used to host grand programs showcasing the splendour of the state's art and culture.
"Nameplates commemorating the people who made a great contribution to the Kannada land, language and heritage were installed for the audience who came to witness it. Nameplates of dignitaries such as Purandardasaru, Kanakadasaru, Dr Ra Bendre, Kuvempu, Dr Raj Kumar, V. Kru Gokak, T N Balakrishna, music giants like Vasudevacharya, Pitelu Choudaiah were installed and an opportunity was provided for those who come to the exhibition to remember them," he said.
He said that former Mayor Ayub Khan was recently appointed as the Chairman of the Exhibition Authority by the Congress Government.
"As Navratri of Mysore Dasara began, all the commemorative nameplates of the great men who contributed greatly to our heritage, culture and literature have been removed and the culture of Ghazni has been adopted. The state government should apologize to the people of the country by installing the nameplates on the spot immediately. He should take responsibility for the misdeeds that have happened in the home district of the Chief Minister and apologize to the people," he added.
Mysore Dasara is a 10-day festival, which starts on the first day of Navaratri and concludes on Vijayadashami (Dusshera). (ANI)
