Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], September 26 (ANI): Responding to the BJP's demand for Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's resignation over the alleged MUDA 'scam', Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Thursday said that the entire Congress party stands in support of Siddaramaiah, adding that there is no possibility of the Chief Minister stepping down.
"I am the KPCC President, and Rehman Khan is the KPCC Discipline Committee head. I am telling you there is no need for the CM to resign. The BJP and JDS are hatching a political conspiracy against the CM. They are not able to digest the fact that guarantee schemes are reaching so many people. Karnataka is the largest state where Congress is in power, and the BJP can't tolerate that. There is no question of CM resigning," Shivakumar told reporters.
Asked about Prime Minister Modi's tirade against CM Siddaramaiah, he said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is doing politics by raising the issue of Siddaramaiah during election rallies.
"Prime Minister Modi is doing politics by raising the issue of Siddaramaiah during election rallies. Many ministers in the Union government are facing charges, let them drop them from the Cabinet first and then talk about others," he added.
Earlier on Wednesday, PM Modi attacked Karnataka CM and said that the Congress is completely entrenched in corruption.
Addressing a rally in Sonipat Haryana, days ahead of the assembly elections in the state, Prime Minister Narendra Modi while highlighting the failures of the Congress party, drew attention towards the MUDA scam, which allegedly involves the Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
"It has only been two years, and just look at the Congress government in Karnataka. The Chief Minister is facing accusations of a land scam. When he appeared in the High Court, he was dismissed. The court stated that a proper investigation is necessary in this matter," PM Modi said.
Earlier today, the Karnataka Chief Minister said that he would not be resigning from his post amid the MUDA scam allegations levied on him by BJP leaders.
"I won't resign; why should I resign? There are allegations on HD Kumaraswamy, did he resign? Let Kumaraswamy resign, has Modi taken the resignation of Kumaraswamy," the CM said. (ANI)
