Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], November 2 (ANI): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday slammed Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge over his remarks against the BJP, where he labelled the party as being one involved in 'deceit and fraud'.
Assam CM while speaking to media persons stated that Congress governments in states make announcements without looking at the budget and the state's revenue.
"I think this thing has come into discussion since the Karnataka elections that whatever announcements the Congress makes, they do without looking at the budget and the state's revenue," he said.
He highlighted that Himachal Pradesh, where the Congress government is in power, is going through the same situation that Karnataka has already gone through, underscoring that only feasible promises should be made.
"Himachal is going through this today. Development has been stopped in Karnataka. Better late than never, I welcome Kharge Ji's statement. We should make only those promises that we can do; we should not make those promises that we cannot do," CM Sarma added.
The Assam CM's comments come after Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge criticized the BJP and said that lies, deceit, fraud, loot, and publicity are the five adjectives that best define the BJP government at the centre. He highlighted that the 'B' in BJP stands for betrayal, while the 'J' stands for Jumla.
Kharge was reacting to Prime Minister Modi's earlier statement, where he criticized Congress party for failing to deliver on their promises in Karnataka and urged the people to be vigilant and not fall prey to the party's false promises.
The Assam Chief Minister further said that the more opposition speaks against the Prime Minister, the more people's love and respect for him will increase.
"The more they (the opposition) speak against the Prime Minister, the more people's love and respect for the Prime Minister increases. In the last 11 years and even before that, whatever they have attacked the Prime Minister, whatever is left of them has also vanished."
He further advised opposition parties to learn not to criticize PM Modi. "I would request that before coming to power, learn beforehand not to criticize PM Modi. Only then your work can be done," he added. (ANI)
