Congress adamant on Ashutosh's resignation
New Delhi [India], Sept. 5 (ANI): The Congress on Monday cornered the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for not initiating action against party leader Ashutosh for comparing Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru with tainted leader Sandeep Kumar and said Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has miserably failed in fulfilling his promises to the people of Delhi. Congress leader J.P. Aggarwal said Ashutosh has made many objectionable comments on his blog. "He can't be compared with such esteemed leaders whose names are written in golden words, there is no comparison. Ashutosh should be expelled," Aggarwal said. The Congress leader told ANI that there should be a referendum on the AAP's agenda in Delhi. "He has done wrong and should be punished. But I would like to know what the party has done against him. He is still a member of AAP. They have promised a lot about women protection after the Nirbhaya case but there is not even one act of theirs which can be appreciated," he added. Defending his sacked colleague, Ashutosh had earlier in a blog said, "Indian history is full of examples of our leaders and heroes who had lived with their desires beyond social boundaries." Ashutosh also went on to question the intentions of some television news channels that aired the footage of the alleged sex tape. He also pondered why India, as a country, never questioned "its leaders about what they do or have done in their private moments". The AAP, however, later distanced itself from Ashutosh's views while describing his comments to be personal. "In AAP, there is zero tolerance on any charge about character, corruption and crime. If there are such charges against me, similar action will be taken, as has been done in case of Kumar," said Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. The Delhi Police earlier on Saturday registered an FIR against Kumar after which he was arrested late in the evening. The action came after the woman, who featured in the sex CD, turned up at the Sultanpuri Police Station and accused the ex-AAP minister of raping her. The woman in her complaint said that she had approached Kumar for a ration card and was trapped. Claiming that the incident took place 11 months back, the woman alleged that he took her to a place, which she can't recall, gave her a drink laced with sedatives and raped her. The lady also said that she was unaware that she was being filmed. (ANI)

TMC's jibe at Centre amid LPG crisis due to West Asia conflict

In an 'X' post, TMC said the government has "ek hi naara, line mein rahe desh bechara," pointing to past governmental measures including demonetisation, the COVID-19 vaccine rollout, the Special Identification Registration (SIR), and now the LPG shortage. The party described demonetisation as a "Tughlaqi farman" that forced ordinary citizens to wait in serpentine queues outside banks and ATMs for days to access their own money. The post also highlighted the 2020 COVID-19 oxygen crisis, when families stood in long lines outside hospitals and suppliers as the public health system collapsed.
