Congress, AAP committing fraud with farmers by making false promises: Sukhbir Badal
Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], Dec. 17 (ANI): Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Friday accused the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of committing fraud with the farmers in the name of waiving off their debt after coming to power. "Captain Amarinder Singh and Arvind Kejriwal are the greatest frauds, who can tell number of lies to win an election. They have been cheating the people by saying that they will waive off the debt of the farmers if they will come to power in Punjab. But state government cannot waive off loans only the Central government can," Badal told the media here. He also slammed Congress for meeting the Prime Minister Narendra Modi over a demand to provide relief for debt-ridden farmers. "Amarinder Singh was the chief minister of Punjab they even had government in the Centre, in their reign not even once Rahul Gandhi went to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh nor Amrinder Singh to waive off farmers loans," he said. He further said that the Amarinder Singh and the AAP is trying to exploit the sentiments of the people and misleading them. On Friday, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi over a demand to provide relief for debt-ridden farmers, said the former has accepted that the situation of farmers is critical in the country, but did not commit anything on waiving off their loans. "Prime Minister accepted that the situation of farmers is critical, But he did not say anything about waiving off their loans, he only heard the matter," said Rahul. He further added that the farmers are committing suicide all over the country and the removal of import duty on wheat by the government is a devastating blow. (ANI)
