Cong to raise issue of govt. formation in Goa, Manipur in Parliament tomorrow
New Delhi [India], Mar. 13 (ANI): The Congress Party will on Tuesday raise the issue of government formation in Goa and Manipur. In Manipur, efforts continue for government formation in the state as both the BJP and Congress met the Governor in Imphal last night, with the ruling Congress staking claim to form the government and the BJP showing its strength. The Governor asked incumbent Chief Minister of the Congress to submit his resignation immediately so that the process of formation of the next government can be started. The Congress had won 28 seats in Manipur, followed by the BJP 21. The NPP and the NPF have won four seats each, while the LJP and the Trinamool Congress have bagged one seat each. In Goa, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is all set to form the government under the leadership of Manohar Parrikar, who will be sworn-in as the Chief Minister tomorrow. Goa Governor Mridula Sinha invited Parrikar to form the next government in the coastal state last night after he submitted a letter of support of 21 legislators. Three MLAs of the Goa Forward Party, three of the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) and two Independents have pledged support to Parrikar. The BJP, which won 13 seats in the 40-member Goa Assembly, managed to garner support from other parties and Independents to attain majority under Parrikar. The Congress Party got 17 seats in the recently concluded polls. (ANI)
