Confused Congress, opposition don't know what to say on demonetisation: BJP

New Delhi [India], Dec. 8(ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday said that it has become habitual of the Congress party to occupy the media space in spite of it being confused on the issue of demonetisation. BJP leader Shrikant Sharma told ANI, "It has become a habit of the opposition to stay in news and that is why every day, they interrupt the proceedings of Parliament. I would like to ask Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi to stop giving statements outside the house. Why can't he give those statements inside the House?" Sharma asserted that Gandhi knew that to speak in parliament, one has to do hard work, has to use his mind and facts needed to be collected. "But, through illogical arguments, they interrupt proceedings. Rahul Gandhi blames the government for the hacking of his Twitter account. If he receives a notice from the government, then he blames the government, a police official goes to his home to take the size of his shoe, to know about the colour of his hair, then he says that the government is spying on him. The opposition is confused. They should first clear the confusion." Sharma said. The BJP leader further said that the the nation supports Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his campaign against corruption and black money and that the opposition has to pay the price because after the note ban, all elections that have been held, have been won by the government with a majority. "The intentions of the opposition are not right, as they don't want discussion to take place because they don't have logical facts to convince the people," Sharma added. Meanwhile, the Congress has criticised the Centre for holding the opposition responsible for the deadlock in parliament and said it was Prime Minister Modi's silence that needed to be blamed for the prolonged impasse. Congress leader Om Prakash Mishra told ANI, "It is Prime Minister Modi who has been bunking the parliamentary session; it is his party that is refusing to discuss demonetisation under a rule in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha." BJP veteran Lal Krishna Advani yesterday expressed his ire over the repeated disruptions in parliament post the government's demonetisation drive, holding both the ruling dispensation and the opposition responsible for the deadlock. The BJP veteran asked the government to find a way out or ensure that Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan asks the protesting lawmakers to leave parliament. Advani's outburst came as the demonetisation issue continues to disrupt proceedings in parliament. Since the beginning of winter session of parliament, the opposition has been demanding a debate on demonetisation along with Prime Minister Modi's participation in the same. (ANI)
